Innovative New Machine Excels In Simplicity !
Wolfard & Wessels Werktuigbouw BV has developed a new machine for fabricating pipe spools. Staying ahead of the competition remains an on-going challenge for this company. A fine example is the development of a new innovative machine for tube-end-forming.
The common tube connection by sleeves (additional material, cutting and welding), is replaced by a much simpler, safer and cheaper connection. A tube slides into the new Tube-end-formed pipe and is secured by a simple weld.
Up to diameter DN80 (3”) this technology is available for piping with wall thickness of 3 mm. The newly developed machine by Wolfard & Wessels handles diameters of DN250 (10”) with wall thickness up to 8 mm. The innovative new machine makes a delicate process of controlling large forces appear effortlessly.
Compared to traditional connection sleeves, chances of leakage are reduced by 50%, just as the time required to for this process. Less welding and less waste result in a lower environmental footprint.
Annually multiple kilometres of piping are produced at the factory of Wolfard & Wessels for shipbuilding, yacht building and industrial purposes.
The result: Reduction of costs and waste, combined with an increased level of safety and flexibility.

Wolfard & Wessels Werktuigbouw BV is specialised in 3-D design, production and outfitting of engine room piping systems for cargo vessels, luxury yachts, and offshore vessels.
“Basically, we supply Parts Kits for an engine room which we assemble on site”, explains Jan Overzet, the director. “We do this with the aid of advanced 3-D engineering, which provides the shipyard, owner and co-maker with additional insight and thus provides advantages during the building, outfitting and afterwards the running of a vessel. The new Tube-end-forming will have an important role in these Part Kits.”
